Q-Modus SNSF Bridge: cryogenic TFLT modulator chips with EPFL

A research programme to develop thin-film lithium tantalate modulator chips for cryogenic operation, in close collaboration with EPFL and Swiss partners.

As part of the Q-Modus SNSF Bridge research programme, thin-film lithium tantalate modulator chips are being developed by Prof. Guillermo Villanueva, Associate Professor of the Advanced Nano-electromechanical Systems Laboratory at EPFL, in close collaboration with Miraex.
The chips are designed to operate under cryogenic conditions and involve close collaboration with academic and industrial partners including Swiss PIC, PSI, FHNW and the Zurich-based startup ZuriQ — strengthening the Swiss photonics ecosystem around next-generation quantum interconnects.
