Glossary
Key terms
Microwave-to-optical transduction
The coherent conversion of quantum information between microwave-frequency photons (used by superconducting and spin qubits) and optical photons (used for communication). Miraex performs this on a TFLT PIC.
TFLT — thin-film lithium tantalate
An electro-optic material platform offering the strong response, low loss and cryogenic compatibility needed for efficient quantum transduction in a compact, space-grade photonic integrated circuit.
Quantum repeater
A device that extends entanglement beyond the ~100 km limit of optical fibre, enabling quantum states to be transmitted over long distances toward a global quantum internet.
QKD — quantum key distribution
A method of sharing encryption keys whose security is guaranteed by physics, immune to quantum-computer attacks. Miraex’s transduction and entanglement provide a physical-layer substrate for satellite-based QKD.
